Posted on March 4, 2016 by Jane Lisbon

A workaholic doesn’t feel in his element when he’s away from work. A person who is passionate about his work must make room at home for a home office. In case you want to have a home office of your own, but you don’t have a lot of free space, read the following lines. Here you will find out how you can make room for a home office in a small space to be able to work even when you’re in the comfort of your own home.

How to Make Room for a Home Office in a Small Space Picture

Stick to what you really need

A home office doesn’t need to resemble your actual office perfectly. Instead of placing big libraries and things that you don’t need in the free space that you find for the home office, stick to a desk and a chair. This classic layout for a home office is perfect for those who lack space. After all, you don’t need anything else when it comes to furniture. On the desk, you can place your laptop or computer, and everything else that you need when you work. In case this space isn’t enough, the best thing to do is to keep a small cabinet next to the desk or behind it. You can store your papers and other materials in its drawers, without taking up too much space. When it comes to the perfect location for the home office, you should make use of the living room. It’s the biggest room in any home. You’ll surely find a corner in which you can place everything you need for the home office without a problem.

Go with small and simple decorations

No matter how little space you have available, you need to place decorations to make the home office intimate and pleasant to be in. Place a couple of pictures of your loved ones on your desk. These pictures will make you happy even when you encounter problems while working. Also, if you place the desk facing the wall, you can hang up a picture that you like there. Of course, no home office is complete without plants. Therefore, make sure that you add at least 1-2 plants in small containers here. If you have space on your desk, you can place a couple of flowers in small containers. Also, you can place 1-2 plants next to the desk. The greenery will inspire you when you’re working for sure. In addition, they will provide you with clean air to breathe while you’re working for you to remain concentrated on your tasks.
