The first thing you need to do is to inspect the whole room

It is very important to inspect the whole place before you actually start to decorate it. You must know exactly if the ceiling is high enough for making a room like this usable. In order to meet most building codes, you will definitely need a staircase. You must consider the fact that you might need to reinforce the joists in the attic floor, in order to support the weight of the whole items you want to bring into the room. You must ensure that there is a window. Some houses have attics without windows, and this can be a huge disadvantage, in case you want to create a bedroom. Therefore, keep in mind to inspect the whole room, before you actually begin to decorate it.

Do not forget to check the floor as well

Since your attic has not been used, you might need to replace the old floor with a brand new one. This will certainly cost you some money, and therefore, you must be financially prepared. Keep in mind that you will not only need to pay for the floor but for the installation as well. A wooden floor is highly recommended. It will beautify the whole room, it will keep you warm, and it is also quite durable. All in all, the floor is very important and you must make sure you inspect it before decorating your bedroom.

Get an infrared heater and a tower fan

Since you certainly don’t have a heating system or an AC conditioning in the attic, you need to find a way to feel warm during the cold season, and a way to cool the room during the summer. The best way to obtain such a result would be to get a tower fan and an infrared heater. You can also find tower fans that cannot only cool a room, but heat it as well, which is absolutely fantastic, and you could go for a device like that. On the other hand, if the attic is quite big, then an infrared heater will certainly do a better job.

Decorate the room

With the right information, you will certainly know exactly how to turn the attic into a bedroom. If you have followed all the above steps, it is now time to decorate the room. You must choose the desired furniture, paint the walls, choose the decorations, and other items you need. It is up to you how you want to design the bedroom, but you must keep one important detail in mind, to choose light colors, in order to brighten up the whole room.
